Anime Expo 2009 Report

Thu Jul 9, 2009, 12:14 AM
Main project I am working on; I will keep you guys updated by updating this journal: [link]

For artists whom I have asked for commissions, [link]
------------
I went alone, but had already expected to meet quite a lot of people and I did.

I met several of my school classmates and old club members whom I haven't seen in three years. That was fun. I also met some online friends I met and went with to Anime Expo 2005 in Anaheim.

After four years of online, I finally met :iconayasal:, she is as cute as I expected she would be. Although we just bumped into each other for two days of the four day event, it was awesome and totally worth my time coming this year. I got her a Hannari tofu and bought one for myself so they are a pair, I guess. (Kinda feels a bit special) Hope to see you again next year with your own table at artist alley. ;3

This is the first time I've been to artist alley at Anime Expo. I walked around it all four days, more than 3-5 times probably. I saw :iconaka-shiro:, bought her stuff (got her to sign her work, too), and said hi. Since I met Aka, then I must have seen :iconpatsumii-yuki: since I was contemplating over their Ranka collab. ;3 I also saw :iconkimchii:'s table; her art is pretty distinct so pretty noticeable.

I was intending to make a list of the table numbers of the deviants I watch, but unfortunately that failed because I didn't manage to get internet at hotel till day 3. So certain people I have seen, but have not said hi to like :iconraburabbit:, Hiku Publishing (reminds me of :iconhikari-faerie:), and others. Next year, I will make sure I am prepared.

Aside from the ones I watch, I saw several new people since I was also collecting business cards from people at artist alley (tho I might have lost some D; ): :iconcuti3ceres:, :iconlilythescorpio:, :iconmirai-ld:, :iconpeegchica:, :iconsyncaidia: (?), and probably others (if it wasn't you, then I am sorry I got it wrong). I also got commissions from people at Artist Alley: I got commissions at :icondrunkpugs: table (her watercolors are awesome tho I didn't get her name tho) and Mason Hyodo from pixiv. If I had more time, I'd say hi to everyone even since I stay until the last minute till they kick everyone out of exhibit hall. xD Hope to see everyone next year and even more new people.

Now the events that happened. I were able to get Da Capo singer's, Yozuca*, autograph and took pictures with her. It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooo awesome. I got autographs from Miru(Cy-Rim rev.) and Aina Kase (going to look up their stuff now). I also got autograph from the artists who drew games for Circus like Shinji Katakura and one other artist (her name escapes my head at the moment >< ). I also got autograph from the director of Circus games, I think, Tororo. All this happened at the end of the "future trends of bishojo" workshop at Anime Expo. xD Also the best July 4th I've spent; not the actual american holiday tho, which I just realized 15 minutes before July 5th. (One of the funny things was that there were elders who were interested in bishojo, too)

Next is Morning Musume...man it was crazy. I couldn't even get an autograph like I wanted to. D; I saw people on youtube camp out at LAX, too. I am like "wow". But otherwise, I enjoyed their concert and got into a new song "3,2,1, Breakin' Out!". Bought their CD's and went to their panel, too.

Ether Saga Online: I got a free t-shirt and got insights on the new things that will come out in the game and is still in development. (ooh big secrets xD) I also met Craig Beers and talked with him. ;D

Shopping: so much walking that my feet died every single day. There is so much stuff to buy. This time, there is so much Gurren Lagaan stuff and some Vocaloid. I couldn't find any Hinagiku stuff. D; So my search for Hinagiku continues next year. So so tired. Bought so so much artbooks. xD

I guess I am conclude this report. If I missed out anything, I will edit it when I remember. I had a blast this year and I also realized that being with girl friends (need to get to know more ;D) and guy friends is kinda nice because I kinda usually shopped alone. Hope to see all of you and more next year. ;3
